Dostál, Martin ; Burcin, Boris (advisor) ; Hulíková Tesárková, Klára (referee)
Premature mortality in selected developed countries: causes and trends Abstract The main goal of the thesis is to describe the overall development of premature mortality and evaluate the development of mortality according to selected groups of causes of death and age groups in selected developed countries of Europe between the years 1999 and 2018. The selected countries for work purposes include the Czechia, Hungary, Sweden, Italy and France. The limit of premature mortality is the age of 70 years. The methods used in this thesis are direct standardization and bivariate decomposition. The results of the analysis showed an improvement in mortality rates in all selected states during almost the entire monitored period. This is proven, for example, by the improvement of the temporary life expectancy between the exact ages of 0 and 70 years. The positive development of premature mortality was mainly contributed by an improvement in mortality from diseases of the circulatory system in older age groups and an improvement in mortality from neoplasms. Key words: premature mortality, causes of death, decomposition, developed countries, Europe

Koňařík, Martin ; Burcin, Boris (advisor) ; Hulíková Tesárková, Klára (referee)
Development of mortality on diabetes mellitus in developed countries, focusing on the Czech Republic Abstract This thesis addresses the development of diabetes mellitus mortality in selected developed countries between 1950 and 2008 and compares this development with the situation in Czechoslovakia, the Czech Republic respectively. This development is analyzed by sex, age and type of diabetes. Furthermore it also deals with diabetes morbidity and the share of diabetes mortality from the total mortality. The main approach used in this thesis is analysis of standardized mortality rates and this analysis was done both for whole long-term time series and time series within each International Classification of Diseases for individual countries. Based on the results, it was found that the development of diabetes mellitus mortality was similar across selected countries. It could be divided into several phases. Differentiation between mortality rates of males and females that occurred during reference period was so significant that mortality rates of females which were always higher had dropped below the rates of males. This effect is called in this thesis as a transition from higher female mortality to higher male mortality and it occurred in different countries at different times and also had variable-length...
Prostorová diferenciace výskytu prostituce ve světě
ŠOUREK, David
The bachelor thesis deals with the spatial differentiation of the occurrence of prostitution in the world at the level of states. The number of prostitutes is based on the latest UN estimates. It is supplemented by other sources for the widest possible set of data. The analysis is focused on the comparison of prostitution rate with selected socioeconomic indicators by applying correlation coefficients to clarify the effects on the examined phenomenon. At the same time, emphasis is placed on the interpretation of differences and the spread of prostitution in the world. The synthetic part deals mainly with the distribution of prostitution in the macro-regional concept of the Earth in order to generalize the results and describe the main determinants of prostitution.
Comparative analysis of working age population mortality in selected developed countries
Straka, Jakub ; Burcin, Boris (advisor) ; Rybová, Kristýna (referee)
Comparative analysis of working age population mortality in selected developed countries Abstract The main aim of this thesis was to analyze trends in mortality situation of working-age population (20-64 years old) in 31 developed countries in period 1995-2010 and to find similarities and differences between them. Temporary life expectancy was used as an indicator which summarizes the intensity of mortality in productive age. One-dimensional and two-dimensional decomposition revealed the contributions of individual age groups and selected nine major groups causes of death defined by ICD to the difference in temporary life expectancy values between 1995 and 2010 in five selected countries. An analysis of the development of this indicator has shown that there has been a prolongation of life span in working age in all surveyed countries and differences in mortality rates between countries decreased. Major cause of this trend was probably reduction of the mortality rate in the middle-aged population, mainly of external causes, in the 20-54 age group in countries with lower life expectancy rates. However, to verify this hypothesis, it would be necessary to analyze other developed countries with a higher level of mortality in working age population than Bulgaria and Lithuania. Countries with higher temporary life...
The Comparison of Nutrition in Selected Countries of the World

There is a characteristic of nutrition and malnutrition in the theoretical part of the thesis. There is a comparison in terms of intake essential nutrients, food and occurrence of malnutrtion in the practical part. Global Economic Outlook - September 2017
Česká národní banka
The September issue of Global Economic Outlook presents the regular monthly overview of recent and expected developments in selected territories, focusing on key economic variables: inflation, GDP growth, leading indicators, interest rates, exchange rates and commodity prices. In this issue, we also look at the real exchange rate phenomenon from the perspective of what it tells us about EU countries. The real exchange rate reflects movements in both the nominal exchange rate and relative price levels. This means it can be used, for example, to assess a country’s convergence efforts (towards the core euro area countries), to discuss the central bank’s effect on the distribution of real appreciation (between the nominal exchange rate and the inflation differential channels) and to track the external competitiveness of an EU economy, and hence also the euro area. This is the line followed by our article, which examines the period from the establishment of the euro area in 1999 to the present.

Global Economic Outlook - August 2017
Česká národní banka
The August issue of Global Economic Outlook presents the regular monthly overview of recent and expected developments in selected territories, focusing on key economic variables: inflation, GDP growth, leading indicators, interest rates, exchange rates and commodity prices. In this issue, we continue our summer mini-series on the economic impacts of Brexit on the United Kingdom. In the July issue, we focused on the short-term effects, whereas this issue summarises the conclusions of the most important studies analysing Brexit from the longer-term perspective. These studies concur that the UK economy will lose out by leaving the EU, a prediction that is gradually being confirmed by actual economic developments. However, it is still difficult to estimate the real extent of the economic impacts of Brexit, as it will depend primarily on the terms negotiated between the UK and the EU. In our analysis, we therefore present the main possible scenarios quantifying how much the UK will pay for Brexit in terms of loss of GDP.

Global Economic Outlook - July 2017
Česká národní banka
The July issue of Global Economic Outlook presents the regular monthly overview of recent and expected developments in selected territories, focusing on key economic variables: inflation, GDP growth, leading indicators, interest rates, exchange rates and commodity prices. In this and the following August issue, we also focus on one of the main current economic phenomena – Brexit. At the end of June, a year elapsed since the referendum in which the United Kingdom voted to leave the European Union. In both articles we focus on assessing this decision’s economic impacts on the UK. The July issue is devoted to the short-term effects. It is apparent from a whole range of indicators that the conclusions of the many studies that warned of a negative Brexit shock for the UK economy are gradually materialising – from the initial visible nervousness of the financial markets, through the announcement of the referendum, to creeping and gradual impacts on the real economy. The final form of the terms negotiated with EU institutions will decide whether these impacts will be short-or long-term. This aspect – along with possible medium-term outlooks – will be the subject of a follow-up article in the August issue.

Global Economic Outlook - June 2017
Česká národní banka
The June issue of Global Economic Outlook presents the regular monthly overview of recent and expected developments in selected territories, focusing on key economic variables: inflation, GDP growth, leading indicators, interest rates, exchange rates and commodity prices. In this issue, we also focus on assessing of the accuracy of the forecasts for 2016 published in Global Economic Outlook last year and the year before. The institutions under comparison were moderately optimistic with their economic outlooks. Their forecasts for GDP growth and inflation for 2016 expected higher figures on average than the subsequent outcomes. The outlooks for nominal interest rates in the USA and the euro area were also overestimated. The dollar did not appreciate against other currencies as much as expected by analysts. The price of oil was also mostly overestimated compared to the actual outcome.
